MARCH 7, 2012 - OSKAR | the dog who looks out windows

In August 2011, our beloved malamute husky, Shredder, died. It was a terrible thing to go through and only those of you who have pets could understand. His life was not nearly long enough, only having made it to a little over four. Life was truly not the same without him around and truth be told, we do still miss him. Working from home, the house felt empty, like there was something missing and just all too quiet. So, two weeks later we found a 6 month old german shepherd for sale and decided to go have a look. Of course I had told Dave that we wouldn't for sure be getting him as it depended on his personality, but who am I kidding, deep down I think I knew I wasn't going home without him.

Now, 7 months later, we have 13 month old, Oskar, who we have trained, trained, and trained some more. Before we had him, he had never worn a collar, seen a leash, had a name, or been in fenced yard. He really was a ranch dog who was free to do whatever he wanted, and do it whenever he wanted to. He may challenge us sometimes but he is an amazing dog who is obedient and listens, well, most of the time that is. He heels and fetches and sleeps at my feet. What more could I ask for?
