JULY 2, 2013 - CODY+LISA | engaged in the desert

Sometimes I surprise myself when I actually get work done when I'm shooting. Such is the case when doing Cody+Lisa's engagement session the other night. We had so much fun that I think we spent most of the shoot doubled over with laughter. I am so lucky to be able to meet and work with such amazing people on a regular basis. I am really looking forward to sharing their wedding day with them in Chase, BC in just a couple of weeks!

JUNE 17, 2013 - DWAYNE+SARAH | engaged

Dwayne and Sarah are so fun to be around and during their shoot, having fun was all they wanted to do;  from running through rolling hills of sage brush, humorously grabbing each others bums, and multiple jumping poses. Their energy is contagious to say the least and I found myself laughing and chatting with them like we've known each other for years rather than just a few measly hours.

I am so excited for them and can't wait for their super fun wedding in Golden, BC this fall.  Congrats you guys!

JUNE 12, 2013 - JASON+KIM | an engagement shoot at McConnell Lake, BC

It started out as just another day when Jason proposed to Kim up at McConnell Lake last Novemeber, a regular spot for the couple to go to wear out their goof ball black lab, Tika.  In the midst of their hike, Jason popped the question. Needless to say Kim said yes. They found me and here we are, seven months later, at the same spot, shooting their engagement photos.

I had a lot of fun with these two and Tika, who kept me well entertained as she ran around goofily on the verge of racking up some big vet bills. Luckily nothing went wrong and we got in some good hiking and lots of good photos. Congrats you two, I'm looking forward to the big day next June out in Westwold (a dream spot of mine to do a shoot)!

Enjoy

MAY 22, 2013 - WELCOME BABY! | a few portraits of little Elsa Ruth

Born on May 9 to a wonderful couple and close friends of ours was little Elsa Ruth. Welcome to the world little one, you are greatly loved and it's going to be a lot of fun watching you grow up!

MAY 3, 2013 - Our Garden.

Where does the time go? I lose track all the time, especially when it comes to posting on the blog when you're busy updating your website and building your new portfolio... and instagram... and facebook. There is just so many different mediums now and apps to share your work it's hard to pick and choose. However, after a busy few months of renovating and almost completing our basement suite, I managed to also build some garden boxes and get some seeds in the ground so we can start eating out of our backyard. It took a few weeks as it's been a bit cold out, but finally the green started to appear.
 Above left: cauliflower
Right: lettuce

A pumpkin.
Some rhubarb from my Mom's, which is originally from my Grandma. I think I can officially call this 'heirloom'.
On the left, a maple tree that seeded itself in our compost from our neighbors tree. They sprout up everywhere but I kept this one as it was already quite big and it will be fun to watch it grow up over the years. On the right, is a Daphne shrub that seeded itself at my mom's.
I love our lilacs. We live in downtown Kamloops, in the heritage neighborhood so we are lucky to have loads of old growth trees and plants. I love the privacy they provide, and of course the smell! It's a special time of year when they are in bloom and transform Kamloops to a whole different place. This is also one of the fences we built in the fall/winter when we first bought the house. We finally finished staining it in the early spring.

It total I've planted tomatoes, potatoes, corn, sunflowers, peas, beans, peppers, onions, carrots, lettuce spinach, green onions, strawberries (a gift from out neighbors), zucchini, pumpkin, cantalope, brocoli, and cauliflower.

JANUARY 8, 2012 - PHOTO OF THE DAY

This week I've been editing Nicole and Tez's wedding from September. I just had to share this shot as she has the most stunning eyes.

JANUARY 4, 2012 - MIKE+AMANDA | a winter engagement shoot

The snow arrived just in time for Mike and Amanda's engagement shoot in December. Even though there wasn't very much of it Amanda was excited as they got engaged last winter. We started the shoot at their high school where they met in a music class, Mike playing guitar and Amanda singing. Mike now coaches football for the team he used to be a part of. It was a lot of fun using such sentimental props in the shoot for these two as they are so kind hearted. They even sang a song for me while I was shooting. Thanks for such a fun afternoon guys, I'm looking forward to the big day!

DECEMBER 5, 2012 - CHAD+JOLENE | more of their trash the dress shoot

It started out as any normal portrait session would; a dry bride, a dry wedding dress, and some beautiful locations. However, once we got to the river, that's when we really started to have some fun. I personally have never made any one (not that I made them) fully submerge themselves in water while wearing a wedding gown and let me tell you, we had some surprises with how the dress 'acted'. You never truly realize how much fabric is involved in a wedding gown unless you A. Make one, or B. Try to get one to stay under water without any bubbles. Let's just say there were some strange noises and lots of laughs going on between shots.

Although Jolene was not planning on getting totally soaked, she's got such a sense of adventure that it just sort of ended up that way and I couldn't be happier with the results. Thanks Chad and Jolene for being such good sports!
