JANUARY 25, 20100 - THE WPJA | an exciting acceptance

There's one thing for sure about this post and that is that it is long overdue.

For those of you who may be confused by the title, the WPJA is the International Wedding Photojournalist Association. It's been a long time coming now that I have looked at this association with admiration and have been longing to become a member. I would always look through and be inspired by so many photographers great works. Always those of Italy, Spain, and okay, some even from Canada. There is no doubt that being a photographer is a highly competitive career choice for someone who is so content and relaxed (the majority of the time anyways), but as hard as it can be sometimes to motivate yourself and maintain a positive attitude that you're good at what you do, I wouldn't give it up for anything. It's truly what I live to do, and what I was made to do.

So, after giving my website a much needed face lift, re-designing logos, contracts and other small details that make a business run, I gathered the courage to apply for membership to the WPJA in September 2010.

It was during a short trip to Cranbrook in October that I took to see some family that I found out I had been accepted to this immaculate association. I was checking my emails on my phone while lying in bed and there it was, from the WPJA, my heart nearly lept out of my chest. I couldn't believe that I had actually done it.

Being apart of the WPJA means that I have become internationally recognized and my info gets displayed in their directories. I'm currently the only member who resides in the Okanagan.

I'm excited to see what kind of new challenges are headed my way for 2011 and where the WPJA might take me...
